The Mueller ACP02722 is a 5/8 inch AC Push long radius ninety degree elbow for flameless refrigerant line connection.

The strongest case for push to connect fittings is work in occupied and fire sensitive buildings. Brazing is hot work, and in most commercial settings hot work requires a permit, a fire watch maintained during the work and for a period afterward, removal or protection of combustible materials, and in many buildings temporary isolation of smoke detection in the area.

The administrative burden is often greater than the job. A twenty minute repair in a hospital, a school, a data centre, or a tenanted commercial floor can require an hour of preparation and approval before the torch is lit.

Some environments make brazing impractical regardless of permits. Occupied patient areas, food production, and spaces containing flammable stock all present difficulties, and a plant room with no natural ventilation makes torch work unpleasant and hazardous.

Push fittings remove the flame entirely, and with it the permit, the fire watch, and the detector isolation.

The trade off is cost per fitting and the requirement for careful tube preparation. On a large new installation brazing generally remains more economical; on service and repair work in occupied buildings the balance often favours push fittings.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, and refrigerant compatibility. Prepare the tube properly and pressure test after assembly.
