The Mueller ACP02716 is a 3/8 inch AC Push long radius ninety degree elbow for refrigerant line installation and repair.

The long radius designation refers to the sweep of the bend, and it has a measurable effect on system performance. A short radius elbow turns the flow abruptly, creating turbulence and a pressure drop noticeably higher than a gentler bend of the same diameter. A long radius fitting turns the flow more gradually and costs less pressure.

Individually the difference is small. Across a system with a dozen direction changes it accumulates, and the effect appears where it matters. On the suction line, pressure drop between evaporator and compressor directly reduces capacity, because the compressor is presented with vapour at a lower pressure than the evaporator produced. On the liquid line, excessive pressure drop can cause the refrigerant to flash into vapour before reaching the metering device, which starves the evaporator and produces symptoms resembling undercharge.
