Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 5/8 AC Push Coupling

The Mueller ACP10145 is a 5/8 inch AC Push coupling used to join refrigerant tubing without a flame.

Vibration is the condition most likely to shorten the life of any refrigerant joint, brazed or mechanical, and it deserves attention when a push fitting is installed near operating equipment.

A compressor produces vibration continuously while it runs. That vibration travels along the pipework, and where the tubing is rigidly constrained the energy concentrates at the constraint. Brazed joints fail by fatigue cracking at exactly these points, and mechanical joints subjected to sustained vibration can work loose or wear the sealing surface.

The standard remedies apply regardless of joint type. Vibration eliminators or flexible connectors close to the compressor absorb the energy before it reaches the pipework. Pipe supports should restrain the tubing without clamping it rigidly, allowing small movements. And joints should not be positioned immediately adjacent to a vibration source where they can be located further along the run.

Push fittings should also not be relied upon to carry mechanical load. The joint seals and grips the tube, but a run left unsupported places continuous stress on the connection.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, and refrigerant compatibility. Support the pipework adequately, isolate vibration at the source, and pressure test the completed installation.
