Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 1/2 AC Push Long Radius 90 Elbow

The Mueller ACP02717 is a 1/2 inch AC Push long radius ninety degree elbow used in refrigerant line installation without brazing.

Tube preparation determines whether a push fitting seals, and the sequence is short enough to be worth stating precisely.

Cut the tube square. A cut at an angle presents an elliptical end that does not enter the fitting evenly and may damage the seal during insertion. A tubing cutter produces a square cut; a hacksaw generally does not.

Deburr inside and out. The internal burr left by a cutter restricts flow and can break free into the system. The external burr, formed as the cutter wheel rolls the tube edge over, is the more serious problem here, because it scores the sealing element as the tube is pushed home.

Inspect and clean the sealing surface. The area of tube that will sit inside the fitting must be free of scratches, corrosion, and debris. An axial scratch is the classic cause of a leaking push joint.

Mark the insertion depth. Measuring from the tube end and marking with a pencil gives a positive check that the tube has reached full depth after assembly.

Insert fully with a straight push and a slight twist, then confirm the mark.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, and refrigerant compatibility before use. Pressure test the completed joint.
