Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 1/4 AC Push Coupling

The Mueller ACP10141 is a 1/4 inch AC Push coupling used to join two lengths of refrigerant tubing without brazing.

A coupling is the fitting used to repair a damaged section of line, and repair is where push fittings show their value most clearly. A refrigerant line damaged by a fastener driven through a wall, by rodent activity, by corrosion, or by physical impact must be cut back to sound tube and rejoined.

Doing that by brazing in a wall cavity, above a ceiling, or in a crawl space means working with a torch in a confined space surrounded by building materials, often in a position where the joint cannot be seen properly while it is made. The quality of a brazed joint depends substantially on the operator's ability to see and control the heat, and awkward positions produce poor joints.

A push coupling makes the same repair without a flame and without requiring the position to permit good torch technique.

The tube preparation requirement remains, and it is harder to meet in a confined space. Cutting square, deburring fully, and inspecting the sealing surface all have to be done properly regardless of access.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, and refrigerant compatibility. Cut back to clean, round, undamaged tube, and pressure test the repair before returning the system to service.
