Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 3/8 AC Push Coupling

The Mueller ACP10143 is a 3/8 inch AC Push coupling for joining refrigerant tubing without brazing.

At 3/8 inch this size typically serves the liquid line on residential and light commercial split systems.

The liquid line operates differently from the suction line and its faults present differently. It carries subcooled liquid refrigerant at condensing pressure from the condenser to the metering device, and it runs warm rather than cold. A leak on the liquid line therefore does not produce the frost or sweating that often draws attention to suction line problems, and it can persist unnoticed for a long period.

A slow liquid line leak reduces the charge gradually. The symptoms develop over weeks: capacity falls, run times lengthen, and eventually the system cannot satisfy the space on a hot day. By the time the customer calls, a substantial part of the charge has gone.

This is one reason that adding refrigerant without finding the leak is poor practice. A system that has lost charge has lost it somewhere, and topping up without repair simply releases the same refrigerant again.

Push couplings allow a located liquid line leak to be repaired quickly, including in positions where brazing would be difficult.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, and refrigerant compatibility. Prepare the tube properly, verify insertion depth, and leak test the repair.
