Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 1/4 AC Push AC-Push

The Mueller ACP15725 is a 1/4 inch AC Push fitting for flameless refrigerant line connection.

Corrosion is worth considering wherever a mechanical fitting is installed in an environment that attacks metals.

Refrigerant pipework outdoors, in coastal locations, in plant rooms with poor ventilation, or in industrial atmospheres carrying corrosive compounds is subject to attack, and a mechanical fitting has more surfaces and interfaces than a brazed joint. Corrosion products forming at a sealing interface can lift the seal and create a leak path.

Where the fitting body and the tubing are different alloys, galvanic corrosion becomes possible in the presence of moisture, and the rate depends on the metals involved and the exposure.

The practical measures are the ordinary ones. Fittings in exposed locations should be protected from standing moisture, insulation should be sealed so it does not trap water against the joint, and installations in aggressive environments should be inspected periodically rather than assumed sound.

Manufacturers state the environments their fittings are approved for, and outdoor or corrosive service may carry specific requirements or exclusions.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, refrigerant compatibility, and suitability for the installation environment before use. Prepare the tube by cutting square, deburring fully, and inspecting the sealing surface, then verify full insertion and pressure test.
