Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 1/2 AC Push AC-Push

The Mueller ACP15727 is a 1/2 inch AC Push fitting for refrigerant line connection without a flame.

Pressure testing after assembly is not a formality and should not be reduced to a brief check that the joint holds.

A proper test on refrigerant pipework uses dry nitrogen, never oxygen, which reacts violently with oil and has caused fatal explosions. The system is pressurised to the level specified by the equipment manufacturer or the governing standard, and held long enough for a small leak to reveal itself.

Duration is the part most often shortened. A joint with a very small leak will hold pressure for several minutes with no detectable change, and a five minute test proves very little. Holding pressure for an extended period and recording pressure and ambient temperature at the start and end gives a meaningful result. Temperature must be recorded because gas pressure varies with it, and a pressure drop caused by the afternoon cooling into evening is easily mistaken for a leak.

Bubble solution applied at each joint locates a leak the pressure test has revealed, and electronic detection is used once the system is charged.

Following the pressure test with a proper evacuation and an isolated vacuum decay test provides a second, independent confirmation of integrity.

Confirm tube size, pressure rating, and refrigerant compatibility, and prepare the tube properly.
