Mueller Refrigerant Line Fitting 1-1/8 ACR Pressure Long Radius 90 Elbow

The Mueller RP02747 is a 1-1/8 inch ACR wrought copper long radius ninety degree elbow, a pressure fitting intended for brazed refrigerant line installation.

This is a brazed fitting rather than a push to connect type, and the ACR designation matters. ACR tube and fittings are supplied for air conditioning and refrigeration service, cleaned internally and capped or nitrogen charged at the factory to keep the bore free of oil, moisture, and debris. Copper sold for plumbing is not prepared this way and must never be substituted, since its internal residues go directly into the refrigerant circuit.

The caps should stay on until the moment of assembly for the same reason.

Brazing a fitting of this size requires a continuous low flow nitrogen purge through the tube. Without it, the internal surface forms a black oxide scale that flakes off in service and circulates, blocking metering devices and strainers and contaminating the compressor. Larger diameters take more heat and for longer, so the quantity of scale formed without a purge is correspondingly greater.

At 1-1/8 inch this size serves suction lines on larger commercial equipment, where the long radius sweep reduces pressure drop.

Confirm tube size, wall thickness, and pressure rating against the application. Clean and deburr both surfaces, purge with nitrogen during brazing, and pressure test before evacuation.
