Lau Fan Blade 24" Clockwise 23-Degree 4-Wing

The Lau 60804301 is a 24 inch four wing axial fan blade with a 23 degree pitch and clockwise rotation, used as a replacement propeller in larger condensing units and commercial air cooled equipment.

Balance is the specification that cannot be read from a catalogue but determines how long the installation lasts. A fan blade is a rotating mass, and any asymmetry in that mass produces a force that rotates with it. At 24 inches the radius is large enough that even a small imbalance generates a meaningful load on the motor bearings, and that load is applied continuously whenever the unit runs.

Blades arrive from the factory balanced. They lose that balance in service through three main routes: uneven dirt accumulation on the wings, physical distortion from impact or from being handled by the tips, and corrosion that removes material unevenly.

The symptom is vibration, felt through the cabinet and often audible as a low hum or rumble that rises and falls with fan speed. Left uncorrected it destroys motor bearings, and a motor replaced without addressing the blade will fail again.

Cleaning both sides of every wing and inspecting for distortion during service preserves balance. Replace rather than attempt to straighten a bent blade.
