Description
The Lau 60556401 is an 18 inch counterclockwise rotation, 30 degree pitch propeller fan blade for condenser and ventilation fan applications.
Propeller fans of this type are high-volume, low-pressure air movers. They are efficient at moving large quantities of air against very little resistance, which is exactly the requirement in a condensing unit where air passes through a coil and straight out through a grille.
What they cannot do is develop meaningful static pressure. Placing any significant restriction in front of a propeller fan, such as a blocked grille, a coil fouled with cottonwood or grass clippings, a security cage packed with debris, or an obstruction close to the discharge, causes airflow to fall away sharply rather than the fan working harder to overcome it.
That is the reason condenser airflow problems are usually restriction problems, and why coil cleanliness and clearance around the unit have such a large effect on system performance.
Confirm diameter, rotation, pitch angle, wing count, hub bore, and hub depth before ordering, and check clearance and coil cleanliness while the fan assembly is removed.
