Lau Fan Blade 18" Clockwise 27-Degree 4-Wing

The Lau CW 27DEG 4WI is an 18 inch four wing axial fan blade with a 27 degree pitch and clockwise rotation, supplied as a replacement propeller for condensing units and air cooled equipment.

Blade position on the motor shaft is a specification in its own right and one that is easily lost during a replacement. The equipment manufacturer sets a dimension, sometimes called blade setting or immersion depth, that positions the blade correctly relative to the fan orifice. Airflow depends on it, because the orifice and the blade work together as an aerodynamic unit.

A blade set too far out of the orifice allows air to recirculate around the wing tips instead of being driven through, and airflow drops noticeably. A blade set too far in can contact the orifice or the guard, and at minimum it disturbs the intended flow pattern.

The practical method is to measure the position of the old blade before removing it, recording the distance from a fixed reference such as the motor mounting face or the orifice edge to the blade hub, then setting the replacement to the same dimension.

Confirm diameter, pitch, wing count, rotation, and hub bore against the original, tighten the setscrew onto the shaft flat, and rotate the blade by hand to check clearance before restoring power.
