The Yellow Jacket 19208 is a Seal Right adapter supplied for service port connections on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Service port sealing surfaces take more punishment than their size suggests. They are exposed to weather on outdoor equipment, they are threaded and unthreaded repeatedly, they collect dirt and grit that then gets compressed into the sealing face, and they are occasionally damaged by an overtightened connection or by being struck during other work.

A damaged sealing surface cannot be relied upon. It may seal adequately under positive pressure and fail entirely under vacuum, which is the condition where the failure does the most harm because air and moisture are drawn inward rather than refrigerant escaping outward.

Inspecting the port face before connecting, and cleaning it where dirt is present, takes seconds. Where the face is scored or deformed, an adapter designed to seal positively can restore a reliable connection on a port that would otherwise need replacing.

Adapters do not compensate for damage indefinitely. A port that is significantly deformed should be replaced rather than worked around, since the refrigerant retained by the connection depends on it long after the technician has left.

Confirm thread size and port compatibility before use. Keep adapter sealing surfaces clean, and replace worn seals as part of routine equipment maintenance.
