CPS Access Valve Auto Coupler R134 1 QCH90

The CPS QCH90 is a high side automatic quick coupler for R-134a service ports, providing a 90 degree connection between service hoses and vehicle or appliance access fittings.

R-134a systems use quick connect service ports rather than the threaded Schrader fittings found on stationary HVAC equipment. The ports are deliberately sized differently on the high and low sides so that a high side coupler cannot be attached to a low side port, which prevents the cross connection errors that would otherwise occur when charging.

The coupler attaches by pushing it onto the port and engaging its locking collar, at which point an internal actuator depresses the port valve and opens the connection. Disconnection reverses the sequence, and the port reseals as the coupler releases.

The 90 degree body is a practical response to the access available in most installations. Service ports are frequently positioned close to other components or against a panel, and a straight coupler with a hose attached to it may not physically fit, or may place the hose under a bend tight enough to restrict flow and shorten hose life.

This is the high side coupler and pairs with the corresponding low side unit.

Confirm the coupler suits the port type in use, keep the sealing surfaces clean, and inspect the internal seals periodically, since a coupler that leaks during charging gives misleading pressure readings.
