Product Highlights
Description
The CPS TLCT1234 is a side mount can tap valve used to draw refrigerant from small disposable containers for charging and topping up.
A can tap provides a controlled connection to a refrigerant container that has no service valve of its own. The tap clamps to the container, a piercing pin or valve stem opens it, and a hose connection allows measured refrigerant transfer.
Two points of technique matter with any can tap. The first is orientation. Drawing vapour and drawing liquid from the same container are different operations with different consequences, and blended refrigerants in particular must be transferred as liquid to preserve their composition, since the components boil at different rates and vapour drawn from a container is not representative of the blend.
The second is purging. The hose between tap and system contains air when first connected, and that air will be pushed into the system with the refrigerant unless it is purged. A brief purge at the hose end before the final connection is made costs almost nothing and prevents non condensable gas entering the system.
Store partially used containers with the tap valve closed, and observe the container manufacturer's guidance on reuse and disposal.
Confirm compatibility with the container type and the refrigerant in use, and check the tap seals for damage before each use.
