The DiversiTech SERVICE-BAR-3-S-T is a service valve assembly providing isolation and service access on refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Service valves determine how much of a system must be disturbed to perform a repair. Where a system is fitted with adequate isolation, a failed component can be valved off, the refrigerant contained within the affected section, and the repair completed without recovering the entire charge. Where isolation is absent, the same repair requires full recovery, evacuation, and recharging.

The difference in labour is substantial, and on larger systems the difference in refrigerant handling is greater still. This is why the provision of service valves at design stage repays itself repeatedly across the life of the equipment.

Service access ports serve the parallel function of allowing pressures to be read and refrigerant to be added or recovered without breaking into the pipework. A port that leaks, however slowly, undermines both purposes, so valve cores and caps deserve inspection at each service visit. The cap is a seal in its own right on most designs, not merely a dust cover.
