Appion Valve Core Removal Tool 1/4" MGAVCT

The Appion MGAVCT is a 1/4 inch valve core removal tool used to extract and replace Schrader cores while the system remains under charge.

The case for removing valve cores rests on flow area. A Schrader core reduces the effective opening at a service port to a fraction of the port's nominal size, and both evacuation and recovery are governed by the smallest restriction in the path. A vacuum pump of any capacity can only pull through the opening presented to it, and a system evacuated through installed cores may take several times longer to reach the same vacuum level than the same system evacuated with cores removed.

The effect is most pronounced on larger systems, on long line sets, and whenever a deep vacuum is required, which is to say on essentially all work involving POE lubricants and modern refrigerants.

The 1/4 inch size covers the standard service port found on the great majority of residential and light commercial equipment.

The tool is also the practical means of replacing a leaking core, which is a common and easily missed source of slow charge loss. A core that seals adequately against a gauge hose can still leak to atmosphere over months.

Confirm port thread compatibility, keep the tool's seals in good condition, and leak check the core after refitting.
