Yellow Jacket Access Valve Hose Gasket 3/8" 10P

The Yellow Jacket 19011 is a pack of ten 3/8 inch hose gaskets used to seal the connection between service hoses and equipment fittings.

Hose gaskets are among the smallest consumable items in a service kit and among the most frequently responsible for misleading diagnostic readings. The gasket seals the flare connection at the hose end, and once it has hardened, split, or been lost, that connection leaks.

The consequence during charging is a slow loss of refrigerant that the technician does not observe directly. The consequence during evacuation is worse, because the leak admits air inward and the vacuum gauge never settles. Time is then spent hunting a system leak that does not exist, or the evacuation is accepted at an inadequate level and moisture is left in the system.

Gaskets degrade with heat, with age, and with repeated connection cycles. They are cheap enough that replacing them on a schedule rather than on failure is the sensible approach, and carrying a pack means a suspect gasket can be changed immediately rather than tolerated.

A quick check on a hose set that will not hold vacuum is to isolate the hoses from the system and pull down on the hoses alone. A set that will not hold vacuum by itself has a leak at a gasket, a coupler, or a core depressor.
