Product Highlights
Description
The Yellow Jacket 19302 is a pack of ten valve core depressors used to open Schrader valves and permit flow through service connections.
A core depressor is the small pin inside a hose fitting or coupler that pushes the Schrader valve open when the connection is made. Without it the connection seals against a closed valve and no flow occurs, which produces one of the more frustrating diagnostic experiences available: a manifold reading no pressure on a system that is fully charged.
Depressors wear, bend, and are lost. A depressor that is worn short may open the core partially rather than fully, which restricts flow without preventing it entirely. The result is a system that evacuates slowly, recovers slowly, and gives pressure readings that lag behind actual conditions, all without any obvious cause.
Because they are inexpensive and easily mislaid, keeping a supply on the vehicle is sensible. Replacing a suspect depressor takes moments and eliminates a variable that is otherwise difficult to identify.
When readings appear implausible, confirming the depressor is present and intact is a reasonable early check, alongside verifying the hose set holds vacuum in isolation.
Supplied as a pack of ten. Confirm the depressor type suits the hoses and couplers in use, and inspect them periodically for wear and straightness.
