Yellow Jacket Access Valve 2-Pack Gauge Boots

The Yellow Jacket 49190 is a two pack of protective gauge boots for manifold gauge sets, fitted to shield gauges from impact and handling damage.

Beyond impact protection, gauge boots provide a degree of shielding against the other conditions that shorten instrument life on a service vehicle. Gauges are exposed to temperature extremes in a vehicle that may sit in direct sun, to moisture and dust in mechanical rooms and rooftop plant, and to the general abrasion of being stored alongside tools.

Boots also improve grip and make a manifold easier to handle when hands are gloved or wet, which itself reduces the likelihood of the drop the boot was fitted to protect against.

The wider point is that a manifold gauge set is the instrument through which most refrigerant side diagnosis is performed. Superheat, subcooling, and charge verification all rest on its readings. An instrument that is protected, checked periodically against a known reference, and zeroed at atmospheric pressure gives figures worth acting on. One that has been dropped repeatedly and never verified may be quietly producing errors across every job.

Digital manifolds have displaced analogue sets in many applications, but analogue gauges remain widely used and benefit equally from protection.
