The Watco RSO65731 is Watco Danish Oil natural oil finish, 1 gallon.

The most important thing about this product is not how it looks. It is that rags soaked in it catch fire on their own.

Danish oil cures by oxidation — it reacts with atmospheric oxygen, and that reaction generates heat. A rag laid flat evaporates the heat and nothing happens. A rag balled up in a bin insulates its own heat, which accelerates the reaction, which generates more heat. The pile reaches ignition temperature and burns without any spark, flame, or ignition source at all. This is how workshops burn down overnight, and it is a documented, routine occurrence rather than a theoretical risk.

Oily rags go in a listed oily waste can, or are laid out flat outdoors until fully dry.

The finish itself is an oil and varnish blend, and its distinction is that it cures in the wood rather than on it. There is no film sitting on the surface, which means there is nothing to chip, crack, or peel — and repairs are invisible, because there are no witness lines where new meets old. That is something no film finish can do.

The trade is protection. An in-wood finish offers far less barrier than a film.

Natural is the unpigmented version.

Wipe on, let it penetrate, wipe off all excess.
