Purdy KRY145380420 White Bristle Sprig 2 In. Flat Trim Paint Brush

The Purdy KRY145380420 is a White Bristle Sprig 2 inch flat trim paint brush, supplied 6 brushes per pack.

Read this against the XL Sprig in the same range and the pair makes the point that decides most brush purchases. Same shape, same size, same pack quantity — different filament, and the filament determines what paint the brush may touch.

White Bristle is natural China bristle: for oil-based paints, varnishes, stains, and solvent-borne coatings. XL is synthetic: for latex, acrylic, and water-based coatings. They are not interchangeable, and the failure mode is immediate. Natural bristle in latex absorbs water, swells, goes limp, and loses its shape within the first wall — permanently.

A contractor buying six brushes at a time needs to know which six they are buying, and the description alone does not say.

For oil work natural bristle is the better tool: more paint held, smoother lay-off, and a finer finish from the naturally flagged tips.

Flat trim is the shape — square-cut for flat surfaces and straight runs, where an angle sash brush handles cutting in and corners.

The 6-per-pack quantity is contractor packaging.

Applications include oil-based enamels, varnishes, stains, and trim work.

Clean in the appropriate solvent, never water.
