The Tweco TWE9205-1250 is an SGC-500 ground clamp, 1/2 inch stud, 500 amp, 9 inch, 2 inch jaw opening, 1-3/4 inch jaw depth, steel.
Two specifications separate this from the GC-500 in the same range, and both matter.
The stud connection is the first. Where the GC clamps use a ball-point to grip the cable directly, this takes a 1/2 inch stud — the cable is terminated in a lug and bolted on. That is a mechanically different joint and it is generally the better one: a bolted lug on a stud is a large contact area under controlled pressure, and it does not loosen the way a clamped connection can.
The trade is that the cable must be lugged, which means a proper terminal crimped or bolted on rather than bare strands pushed into a clamp.
The steel construction is the second and it is a real difference from the copper alloy GC clamps. Steel is a poorer conductor and it is far tougher. That is a deliberate trade for the environment: a clamp that gets dropped, dragged, and abused survives longer in steel, and the conductivity is adequate at the contact.
The 1-3/4 inch jaw depth is notably shallow against the GC-500's 5-1/4. Check the workpiece.
Clamp to clean bare metal near the weld. Stray return current finds bearings.

Middle of the road. Gets the job done but I might try another brand next time.

Decent enough but the quality feels a little cheaper than the photos.
