Diamond Lead Reels DLRFBD12BLK Welding Lead Reel Heavy-Duty Steel Black 12 Inch

The Diamond Lead Reels DLRFBD12BLK is a heavy-duty welding lead reel with a 12 inch reel size and fixed base, holding 200 feet of 1/0 cable or 175 feet of 2/0. It is black powder coated steel with zinc coated hardware, a 1/2 inch terminal connection, supplied 1 each.

The step from a 10 inch to a 12 inch reel is a step in reach, and reach is what a field welder is actually buying. At 200 feet of 1/0 or 175 feet of 2/0, this reel lets a welder work substantially further from the rig — which on a pipeline right of way, a structure, or a plant shutdown decides whether the truck has to be repositioned to reach the next joint. Moving the truck costs more time than the reel costs money.

The 1/0 versus 2/0 capacity difference reflects cable weight and bulk. The trade is genuine: 2/0 carries higher current with less voltage drop across a long lead, while 1/0 buys 25 more feet on the same drum. Long leads at high amperage argue for 2/0; reach at moderate amperage argues for 1/0.

The reel is electrically isolated, so welding current stays in the cable rather than travelling into the reel body and the vehicle beneath it.

The fixed base is rigid and simple, with no swivel to wear.

Powder coated steel and zinc coated hardware suit permanent outdoor mounting in weather and road salt.

Applications include truck mounted welding rigs, pipeline welding, field construction, and mobile service.
