Diamond Lead Reels DLRSBD10BLK Welding Lead Reel Heavy-Duty Steel Black 10 Inch

The Diamond Lead Reels DLRSBD10BLK is a heavy-duty welding lead reel with a 10 inch reel size and a swivel base, holding 150 feet of 1/0 cable or 125 feet of 2/0. Black powder coated steel, zinc coated hardware, 1/2 inch terminal connection, supplied 1 each.

The swivel base is the specification that separates this from the fixed-base reel, and it addresses a wear problem rather than a convenience one. A fixed reel pays out cable in one direction. When the welder is working ninety degrees off that line — which on a jobsite is most of the time — the cable drags across the reel's edge every time it feeds or retracts. That abrasion cuts into the cable jacket, and a welding lead is an expensive consumable to destroy from the outside in.

A swivel base lets the reel turn to face the work, so cable pays out straight regardless of where the welder has gone. The cable comes off the drum cleanly and rewinds cleanly.

The cost is a moving joint that adds a wear point and some height. Where a rig always works from one side, a fixed base is simpler and more rigid.

The reel is electrically isolated so welding current stays in the cable rather than entering the reel body and the vehicle.

Capacity is 150 feet of 1/0 or 125 feet of 2/0 — the heavier gauge consuming more drum space.

Applications include truck mounted welding rigs, field welding, and mobile service.
