Diamond Lead Reels DLRAWCDBL-BLK Weather Cover Black

The Diamond Lead Reels DLRAWCDBL-BLK is a weather cover in black, carrying a 1 year warranty on manufacturer defects.

A weather cover addresses the fundamental compromise of a truck-mounted welding lead reel: the reel lives outside. It is bolted to a rig that sits in rain, snow, road salt, and sun, and the welding cable wound onto it is an expensive consumable with a jacket that degrades under UV and cracks in cold. The reel itself is powder coated steel and copes; the cable and the mechanism are what suffer.

A cover keeps water out of the wound cable, keeps sunlight off the jacket, and keeps road salt and grit away from the reel's moving parts and terminal connections. On a welding rig, corroded terminal connections are not a cosmetic problem — a poor connection at the reel adds resistance in the welding circuit, which shows up as heat at the terminal and an arc that will not hold.

For a contractor whose rig is their business, the cover is trivial next to the cost of replacing 150 feet of 2/0 cable early.

Applications include truck and trailer mounted welding rigs, service vehicles, pipeline and field welding operations, and any outdoor-stored lead reel installation.

Users include mobile welders, pipeline contractors, field service operations, and construction fleets.

Confirm the cover suits your specific reel size and configuration before ordering.
