The Tweco TWE9205-1150 is a GC-500 ground clamp, 4/0 AWG cable capacity, 500 amp, 10 inch, 2 inch jaw opening, 5-1/4 inch jaw depth, ball-point cable connection, copper alloy.

The 500 amp rating and the 4/0 cable capacity go together, and it is worth understanding why the clamp has a cable rating at all.

The clamp is a connector. Cable enters it, and the joint between the cable and the clamp body is a resistance point — one that carries the machine's full output. A clamp rated for 4/0 has a terminal sized to grip 4/0 properly. Force a smaller cable into it and the grip is poor; the joint heats, oxidises, and gets worse. Try to force a larger one and it does not seat.

So the clamp, the cable, and the machine are matched.

The ball-point connection is the mechanism: the cable is clamped by a ball-and-socket arrangement that concentrates pressure into the strands rather than crushing them flat.

The 5-1/4 inch jaw depth is the number that decides whether the clamp is usable. Depth is how far in from the edge the jaws will reach, and it is a hard limit — a workpiece where clean bare metal is six inches from an edge cannot be clamped with this.
