Note something worth reading carefully: this holder is rated 300 A on 2/0 cable, and the 200 A holder in this range is also on 2/0. Same cable, fifty percent more current.

That is not necessarily an error — cable ampacity depends on duty cycle and length, and a stick welding electrode holder runs intermittently rather than continuously. But it is worth confirming against Tweco's data, because cable sizing is the specification a welding setup lives or dies by.

The reason it matters: welding cable carries hundreds of amps, and every foot of it has resistance. Resistance times current is voltage dropped in the cable instead of delivered to the arc. An undersized or overlong cable produces a cold arc — and the welder responds by turning the machine up, which draws more current, drops more voltage, and heats the cable further. The arc never improves and the cable gets hot enough to matter.
