Silver aluminium is not a colour in the sense the rest of this range is — it is metal, and it behaves differently.

Aluminium pigment is a flake rather than a particle. As the film dries, the flakes orient parallel to the surface and overlap like tiles on a roof. That overlapping metal layer is a physical barrier: moisture and oxygen have to travel around each flake to reach the steel underneath, and a longer path means slower corrosion.

So an aluminium finish protects by geometry as well as by chemistry, which is why it has been the traditional coating for exposed steel, tanks, and pipework since long before anyone marketed it that way.

The flakes also shield the resin beneath them from UV and reflect radiant heat, both of which extend the coating's life outdoors.

The practical caveat: aluminium finishes are difficult to touch up invisibly. The flake orientation depends on how the coating was applied, so a spot repair catches the light differently from the surrounding area even in the same paint.

Enamel is an oxidative-cure resin. The 20 minute dry is to touch, not to hardness.

Applications include pipework, structural steel, and equipment.
