Urethane is the specification and reading it against the epoxy mastic in this same range explains why both exist.

Epoxy is the better adhering, better barrier coating, and it has one weakness: ultraviolet light. Sunlight breaks down the epoxy resin at the film surface, which chalks — the surface goes dusty and loses gloss. It is not a structural failure, and on an exterior it looks like neglect within a year or two.

Urethane resists UV. It holds its colour and gloss outdoors for years where an epoxy would chalk.

Which is why the classic industrial system is epoxy underneath and urethane on top: epoxy for adhesion and barrier against the substrate, urethane for the weather. Each doing what it is good at.

A urethane mastic is the surface-tolerant version — formulated to bond to marginally prepared and tightly rusted steel rather than requiring a blasted surface, which is the condition most maintenance painting actually happens on. It is high build, filling a pitted profile rather than bridging it.

Gloss white maximises light reflectance, which matters more in a plant than it sounds — it is the cheapest lighting improvement available.

Applications include exterior steel, tanks, and maintenance coating.
