Rust-Oleum RSO245480 Paint V7400 High Performance 5 gal Safety Yellow Gloss

The Rust-Oleum RSO245480 is V7400 high performance paint, alkyd enamel, 5 gal, safety yellow, gloss, VOC content under 340 g/l, 2 to 4 hour dry time, tack-free.

Safety yellow is a specified colour rather than a shade of yellow, and that is the reason to buy this rather than yellow paint.

Under the safety colour conventions that OSHA and ANSI codify, yellow designates caution and physical hazards — the things people strike against, stumble over, trip on, fall from, or get caught between. Handrails, bollards, edges, low beams, and pinch points. The colour is doing a job, and it only does it if it is the right yellow across the whole facility. A yellow bollard next to a slightly different yellow bollard reads as decoration.

That is what a specified safety colour buys: consistency between batches, years apart, so the system stays legible.

Alkyd enamel is the resin and it cures by oxidation — reacting with atmospheric oxygen over days. The 2 to 4 hour dry time is to touch; full hardness takes considerably longer, and a coating put into service early gets marked.

VOC under 340 g/l is a regulatory figure. Verify compliance against the requirements where it will be used.

The 5 gallon pail suits spray or roller application at scale.
