Inverted is the specification and it is the entire point of the product — it means the can sprays while held upside down.

That sounds like a detail. It is the difference between marking a car park on your knees and marking it walking upright. An inverted can drops into a striping wand — a wheeled applicator with a trigger — and the operator walks the line at normal pace. A conventional aerosol cannot do it: the dip tube sits at the bottom of the can and it sucks propellant instead of paint the moment the can is tipped.

Inverted cans move the pickup so the paint feeds when inverted. That is a valve and dip tube design, and it is why these cannot be substituted.
