An ignitor that glows normally but the burner does not light is not an ignitor problem. The gas valve has not opened, gas supply is absent or inadequate, or the burner is obstructed. Replacing the ignitor in this situation achieves nothing.

An ignitor that glows and the burner lights but the furnace then shuts down is a flame sensing problem, not an ignition problem. The burner is lit; the control simply is not receiving proof.

Each of these presents to the occupant identically as no heat, and separating them before ordering parts is what distinguishes an efficient diagnosis from a sequence of guesses.
