Description
The Nidec/Emerson 1868 is a 3/4 horsepower, 1075 RPM condenser fan motor for larger outdoor fan applications in light commercial condensing units and packaged equipment.
Three quarter horsepower is above the range of residential condensing unit fan motors and indicates commercial equipment with a large condenser coil, or a unit using a single large fan in place of the multiple smaller fans found in some designs.
At this size, electrical supply and protection need confirming rather than assuming. Check the motor nameplate full load amps against the branch circuit and the unit's internal overcurrent protection, particularly where the replacement is not an exact OEM equivalent.
Mechanical mounting also deserves attention. A larger motor with a larger blade carries more rotating mass, and the mounting bracket and top panel must be sound. Corroded mounting hardware or a fatigued bracket that was adequate for years can fail under a new motor, and a fan assembly coming loose in a running unit destroys the coil.
The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
