Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/6 HP 825 RPM 230V 1-Speed

The Nidec/Emerson 1873 is a 1/6 horsepower, 825 RPM, 230 volt single-speed condenser fan motor for outdoor fan applications where lower shaft speed is specified.

Six-pole 825 RPM condenser fan motors are used with larger diameter fan blades, and the pairing is deliberate. A large blade turning slowly moves the same air as a smaller blade turning faster, but with lower tip speed and therefore markedly less noise. Manufacturers select this combination for equipment where sound rating is a design priority, which increasingly includes residential condensing units subject to local noise limits.

Because the blade and speed are matched as a pair, neither can be changed independently. Fitting an 1075 RPM motor to a blade designed for 825 RPM overspeeds the blade, overloads the motor, and produces the noise the design was intended to avoid. The reverse combination starves the condenser of air.

Verify RPM against the original motor's nameplate, not against the assumption that condenser fan motors run at 1075 RPM.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
