Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/4 HP 1100 RPM 230V

The Nidec/Emerson 3404 is a 1/4 horsepower, 1100 RPM, 230 volt condenser fan motor for outdoor fan applications in air conditioning and refrigeration condensing units.

The 1100 RPM rating is close to but not identical with the 1075 RPM figure quoted for most four-pole condenser fan motors. Both describe the same four-pole design; the difference reflects the slip at rated load, which varies slightly between motor designs. For practical purposes a 1100 RPM motor and a 1075 RPM motor of the same horsepower and frame are interchangeable, and the small difference in speed has a negligible effect on condenser airflow.

What is not interchangeable is a four-pole motor and a six-pole 825 RPM motor. That difference is substantial and changes airflow markedly.

When comparing a replacement motor's nameplate against an original, treat speeds within a few percent as equivalent and speeds differing by a pole count as incompatible.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
