Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/4 HP 1075 RPM 208/230

The Nidec/Emerson EL3728 is a 1/4 horsepower, 1075 RPM, 208/230 volt condenser fan motor for outdoor fan applications in residential and light commercial condensing units.

The 208/230 volt rating covers both the nominal 208 volt supply typical of commercial buildings served from a three-phase system and the 240 volt residential supply. A motor of this rating operates on either, but not identically: at 208 volts it draws more current for the same shaft output, and it has less margin against a voltage sag during peak demand.

On 208 volt installations, therefore, supply voltage should be measured under load rather than at rest, and running current compared against the nameplate figure for the lower voltage. Repeated fan motor failures on a commercial property with no other explanation frequently trace back to a supply that sits at the bottom of the acceptable range on hot afternoons.

The motor is a permanent split capacitor design requiring a correctly rated run capacitor.

Confirm horsepower, RPM, voltage, rotation, frame diameter, shaft diameter and length, mounting arrangement, and capacitor rating before ordering, and verify the fan blade is the correct diameter and pitch.
