Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/4 3403

The Nidec/Emerson 3403 is a 1/4 horsepower condenser fan motor supplied in a short-frame configuration for outdoor fan applications with limited axial clearance.

The compact body length of this motor makes it suitable for condensing units and refrigeration equipment where the distance between the mounting panel and the coil or cabinet floor will not accommodate a standard frame motor.

Where clearance is this tight, the fan blade's position in the discharge orifice needs particular attention at installation. The blade should sit at the depth the manufacturer specified, typically with the blade tips within the orifice throat rather than proud of it or recessed too far below. Blade position affects how much air is drawn through the coil and how much simply recirculates around the blade tips, and getting it wrong reduces condenser airflow without producing any obvious fault.

Set the blade depth from the original position, or from the equipment manufacturer's specification where the original cannot be established.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
