Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/3-1/6 HP 1075 RPM

The Nidec/Emerson 5430 is a multi-horsepower condenser fan motor covering 1/3 to 1/6 horsepower at 1075 RPM, supplied as a consolidated replacement for outdoor fan motors across several condensing unit sizes.

Multi-horsepower condenser fan motors are wound so that output follows the selected tap, which allows one part number to substitute for a group of OEM motors of different ratings. For a service van this is a considerable advantage: a single motor on the shelf covers the majority of residential condensing unit fan failures rather than requiring three separate part numbers.

The obligation that comes with it is correct tap selection. The tap should reproduce the horsepower of the motor being replaced, and the running current should be measured against the selected rating afterwards. Selecting a higher tap than necessary in the belief that more airflow is beneficial loads the motor unnecessarily and can overload it if the fan blade is at the upper end of what the frame will drive.

The motor is a permanent split capacitor design requiring a correctly rated run capacitor.

Confirm the horsepower range covers the original, and verify RPM, voltage, rotation, frame diameter, shaft diameter and length, mounting arrangement, and capacitor value before ordering.
