Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/2H 1075 2

The Nidec/Emerson 1862H is a 1/2 horsepower, 1075 RPM condenser fan motor supplied for outdoor fan replacement in larger condensing units and heat pumps.

Heat pump outdoor fan motors accumulate roughly twice the run hours of a cooling-only equivalent, because the same motor operates through the heating season as well. Bearing life, which is the limiting factor for most condenser fan motors, is consumed proportionally.

Winter operation adds a further demand. During defrost the outdoor fan stops while the reversing valve directs hot gas to the outdoor coil, then restarts as the cycle completes, and this stop-start duty repeats through cold, wet weather. Water on the motor during a defrost cycle, followed by a return to sub-freezing operation, is a genuinely severe condition.

Motors specified for heat pump service should be selected accordingly, and where a heat pump fan motor has failed prematurely the defrost cycle and outdoor coil drainage are worth examining rather than only replacing the part.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
