Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/2 HP 1075 RPM 230V 2-Speed

The Nidec/Emerson 5465 is a 1/2 horsepower, 1075 RPM, 230 volt two-speed condenser fan motor for larger residential and light commercial condensing units.

Half horsepower two-speed outdoor fan motors serve four and five ton equipment and light commercial units where the condenser coil is large enough that full-speed fan operation in cool weather would depress head pressure excessively.

When such a motor fails, the diagnosis should establish which speed was in use. A motor that has been running continuously on high speed because the low-speed circuit failed has been operating at a duty its bearings and windings see less often, and the underlying control fault will do the same to the replacement. Conversely, a motor stuck on low speed in hot weather produces high head pressure and elevated compressor current, which is often reported as a refrigerant problem.

Confirming that both speeds function after installation is part of a complete repair, not an optional check.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.

Confirm horsepower, RPM, voltage, rotation, speed configuration, frame and shaft dimensions, mounting arrangement, and capacitor rating before ordering, and verify running current on both speeds afterwards.
