Nidec/Emerson Condenser Fan Motor 1/2 HP 1075 RPM 230V 1-Speed

The Nidec/Emerson 1862 is a 1/2 horsepower, 1075 RPM, 230 volt single-speed condenser fan motor for larger residential and light commercial condensing units.

Motors of this size drive larger fan blades across correspondingly large condenser coils, and the relationship between motor, blade, and coil is what determines condensing performance. Airflow across the condenser sets the temperature at which refrigerant rejects heat, and therefore sets head pressure, compressor current, and system capacity.

That relationship makes condenser airflow a first-order diagnostic on any system running high head pressure. Before suspecting overcharge or non-condensables, confirm that the fan motor is running at correct speed, that the blade is the right diameter and pitch and is undamaged, that the blade sits correctly in the orifice, and that the coil is clean through its full depth rather than only on the outer surface.

A coil that looks clean from outside can be heavily fouled internally, particularly where cottonwood or grass clippings are present.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
