The JAZ JAZ72052 is a 2-3/4 inch twist knot wire cup brush with .020 inch steel wire and a 5/8"-11 arbor hole, supplied in a bulk package.

The small diameter is the reason to choose this brush. At 2-3/4 inches it reaches where a 4 or 6 inch cup physically cannot: inside corners, channel and angle sections, weld joints, pipe fittings, and confined areas on a fabrication. It is also the brush for concentrated work on a small area, where a large cup would be unwieldy and would clean everything except the spot that needed it.

Smaller brushes also carry higher speed ratings, which is a function of rim speed — a small wheel can turn faster before its edge reaches the same velocity as a large one. That said, the rating is a limit and not a target, and the grinder's no-load speed must be verified against it before mounting.

Twist knot construction bundles the wire into rigid groups that strike the surface rather than sweep it, which is what removes mill scale, heavy rust, slag, and coatings. A crimped brush at the same gauge would only polish them.

The .020 inch wire is the general heavy-duty gauge.

Steel wire means carbon steel work only.
