DeWalt DEWDW8010 Bonded Abrasive

The DeWalt DEWDW8010 is a general purpose metal cut-off wheel for stationary saws, 16 inch diameter x 7/64 inch thick with a 1 inch arbor.

A 16 inch stationary saw wheel is a chop saw consumable, and the format tells you the duty. Stationary saws are fixed machines cutting stock to length in volume — bar, angle, tube, channel, threaded rod — rather than portable tools brought to the work. The wheel is sized and rated for that machine and that fixed geometry.

The 7/64 inch thickness is the specification worth understanding. Wheel thickness is a direct trade between speed and life: a thinner wheel removes less material per cut, so it cuts faster, wastes less stock in the kerf, and generates less heat in the workpiece — but it wears faster and is less tolerant of side loading. At 7/64 inch this wheel sits in the general purpose range rather than at either extreme.

Bonded abrasive wheels carry two absolute rules. The wheel's rated speed must equal or exceed the saw's, and cutting is done straight — a cut-off wheel takes load on its edge, not its face. Side pressure and twisting are what shatter wheels.

The 1 inch arbor is the standard stationary saw spindle.

Applications include structural steel, bar and tube stock, threaded rod, and general metal fabrication cut-to-length work.

Inspect for cracks before mounting and always use the guard.
