DeWalt DEWDW4926 Wire wheel

The DeWalt DEWDW4926 is a stringer bead wire wheel, 4 inch diameter, carbon steel, with a 5/8"-11 arbor and .020 inch wire, supplied in bulk.

A stringer bead wheel is built for one job and does it better than anything else. Its knots are packed into a narrow band approximately the width of a weld bead rather than spread across a broad face, and that concentration is the whole design. It puts the wheel's energy into the root of a joint, the toes, and the interpass surface — the places where slag and oxide actually sit — instead of riding across the surrounding parent metal where nothing needs doing.

For multi-pass welding this is not a convenience. Interpass cleaning determines whether the next pass fuses properly or traps slag, and a cup brush cannot get into the groove to do it.

At 4 inches the wheel is compact and controllable, suiting pipe work, tight joints, and positions where a 6 or 7 inch wheel will not fit or cannot be steered.

The carbon steel wire means this wheel is for carbon steel work only — used on stainless, it embeds carbon particles that rust and destroy the corrosion resistance.

Bulk packaging suits shops consuming wheels continuously rather than buying one at a time.

Applications include multi-pass and pipe welding, structural fabrication, and weld cleanup.
