Gator ALI4222 Bare Wood 9 In

The Gator ALI4222 is Bare Wood sandpaper in a 9" x 11" sheet size, 320 grit, extra fine, supplied 25 sheets per pack.

At 320 grit this abrasive sits firmly in the finishing end of the range. It is not a stock removal paper and should not be asked to do that work — 320 is the grit reached for after coarser papers have levelled and shaped the surface, when the objective is to remove the scratch pattern left by the previous grit and bring the wood to a surface ready for stain, sealer, or finish.

The Bare Wood designation identifies the intended substrate. Sanding raw, unfinished wood is a different task from cutting back a cured finish: bare wood loads the abrasive with soft fibrous dust rather than resin, and the grain raises and needs knocking back between coats. This paper is graded for that work.

The 9" x 11" sheet is the standard full-sheet size in North America, which means it can be cut down to quarter sheets for a palm sander, halved for a half-sheet sander, or folded for hand sanding on a block — the format that suits every method rather than one machine.
