Flange Wizard FLW72810 Radius Marker Large For drawing cirlces up to 100"

The Flange Wizard FLW72810 is a radius marker in the Large size, for drawing circles up to 100 inches.

A 100 inch capacity puts this at the top of the range, and it is a specialist tool rather than a general one. Circles of that scale belong to tank and pressure vessel fabrication, large-diameter pipe and duct, structural plate components, and shipbuilding — work where the plate is measured in feet and a hand-marked circle is out of the question.

The argument for a radius marker scales directly with the diameter. At 100 inches, marking a circle by measuring offsets from a centre point requires dozens of measurements, and every one carries a small error. Connecting them gives a lumpy approximation of a circle whose flat spots and bumps then have to be cut and ground out. A radius marker scribes one continuous arc from a fixed centre. The circle is true by construction rather than by effort.

Steel is why the tool exists in this form: a conventional compass wants a centre point punched into the material, which on plate is either damage or an extra operation.

The practical caution is the obvious one — a tool with 100 inches of reach is unwieldy, and it should be chosen for work that needs it. The small and medium markers cover everything below.

Applications include tank and pressure vessel fabrication, large plate layout, shipbuilding, and heavy structural work.
