Flange Wizard FLW38240-TL Flange Aligner Threaded Pins Large

The Flange Wizard FLW38240-TL is a flange aligner with threaded pins in the Large size, the largest model in the range. It fits flanges with holes 1/2 inch to 1-15/16 inch in diameter by 4 inch thick.

Flange alignment is a specific and unforgiving job. A pipe flange must be welded to the pipe in the correct rotational orientation, or the bolt holes will not line up with the mating flange when the joint is assembled — and by then the weld is finished, the pipe is in place, and the fix involves cutting it back off. The conventional requirement is that the flange is "two-holed": the bolt holes straddle the vertical centreline, so two holes sit horizontally level with the ground.

The aligner is what makes that repeatable. Threaded pins are set into two of the bolt holes, and the aligner spans between them with a level, letting the fitter rotate the flange until the two holes are precisely level before tacking.

The threaded pins are the specification that distinguishes this from a magnetic aligner. Threaded pins clamp into the holes mechanically, which means they work on non-ferrous flanges — stainless, aluminium, and alloys — where a magnet has nothing to hold.

At 1/2 inch to 1-15/16 inch hole diameter and 4 inch flange thickness, this covers the large end of the range.
