The Flange Wizard FLW53076-M is a medium magnetic centering head with a dial and vial, for 6 inch pipe and larger.

The size range is the specification, and understanding why centering heads come in sizes explains the whole family. The tool must sit stably on a curved surface and register against it — and the curvature of a 1 inch pipe is nothing like that of a 24 inch one. A head sized for small pipe rocks on a large one; a head sized for large pipe cannot seat on a small one. The range is set by geometry, not by capability.

At 6 inch and larger, this is the head for process piping mains, headers, and the mid-range work that makes up the bulk of industrial pipe fitting.

The job is identifying and marking a centre-line at any angle around a pipe's circumference. On a round surface with no edge to reference, finding the true top — or a point 45 degrees around from it — by eye is guesswork, and every fitting, branch, saddle, and support attaches at a defined angular position.
