ECCO 4RC 4 Inch Rain Cap Vent Termination 200406

The ECCO 200406 is a 4 inch rain cap, a vent termination fitting that mounts on the outlet of a vertical flue, exhaust stack, or ventilation pipe to prevent rain, snow, and debris from entering while allowing exhaust gases or air to discharge freely.

A rain cap works by turning the discharge path through an offset while maintaining an unobstructed flow area. The hood covers the pipe opening from directly above, so falling water cannot enter the vertical run, while the open perimeter beneath it allows discharge in every direction with minimal added resistance. Well-designed caps add very little static pressure to the system, which matters on combustion venting where excessive restriction affects appliance operation.

The 4 inch designation refers to the nominal pipe diameter the cap fits. Vent caps must be sized to the pipe rather than approximated, since a cap that is loose will be displaced by wind and one that is undersized will not seat.

Applications include appliance flue terminations, exhaust fan discharge stacks, and general ventilation pipe outlets in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Confirm the pipe outside diameter and attachment method before ordering, and verify that the finished installation meets the vent termination clearance requirements applicable to the appliance being vented.
