The ECCO 200406 is a 4 inch rain cap, a vent termination fitting that mounts on the outlet of a vertical flue, exhaust stack, or ventilation pipe to prevent rain, snow, and debris from entering while allowing exhaust gases or air to discharge freely.

A rain cap works by turning the discharge path through an offset while maintaining an unobstructed flow area. The hood covers the pipe opening from directly above, so falling water cannot enter the vertical run, while the open perimeter beneath it allows discharge in every direction with minimal added resistance. Well-designed caps add very little static pressure to the system, which matters on combustion venting where excessive restriction affects appliance operation.
